The Media Awareness Project is an innovative nonprofit here in Austin, Texas that teaches high risk youth to produce digital media messaging (through video production, website development, print, photography, etc.) around issues of social relevance. Our primary goal is to get kids thinking visually and creatively and to get them talking (digitally) about the world they live in.
We’re hiring impassioned and creative leaders to deliver our curriculum for the Media Leadership Academy to students in an after school setting. Think you’re right for the job? Our ideal candidate will:
-Be a college student or college graduate w/applicable major (i.e. – RTF, Social Work, Communications, Digital Media, Marketing etc.)
-Be enthusiastic about engaging with kids (k-8)
-Be on time and reliable.
-Be passionate about issues of social justice and the challenges high-risk kids face.
-Have at least some understanding of video production & story-telling.
-Be technology and social media savvy.
-Be comfortable recruiting students in an on-campus setting for after school programming.
-Demonstrate a commitment to helping high-risk kids thrive.
-Work with students to execute an intense curriculum over the course of the semester.
-Work with site directors to meet goals.
-Participate in family engagement events.
-Afternoons between 2-6
-Fifteen to twenty hours a week
-$12-$18 p/h based on what you bring to the table!
